City Center DC, Painting Series
intended to put emphasize on, “Mental Health and Addiction”.
I’m speaking out through my work because I feel, “we are not talking enough, not doing enough and not informing people enough,” about ADDICTION and mental health in general.
My intent is for this exhibit to help inform and change how we think about the words “Addiction” and “Addict”. And how we treat anyone with mental health illness.
“60 x “70 paintings of the City Center area in Washington, DC. In each of my paintings, you will find the words written “Wish You Were Here” These words, from the Pink Floyd song, is about Syd Barrett, the original front man and chief songwriter of Pink Floyd, Syd Barrett left the group in 1968, after his mental and physical health and reliability, deteriorated as a result of heavy drug use.
Why did I choose the City Center in DC, as my subject? Whenever I felt sad, I would walk to the City Center in DC. Just by walking through this area, I became happier. It was always so much fun for me to go
